Cat Crotchett's show, Strange Currencies, opens on Saturday, October 1st from 5-7pm. The exhibit runs through Saturday, November 19th, 2011.

Cat Crotchett’s paintings create a visual dialog between encaustic painting and the art of Javanese batik. The body of work on exhibit was influenced by the experience of cross-cultural workshops that the artist presented during a residency in Indonesia. To make these works, Crotchett used traditional batik tools for encaustic painting. Encaustics and batik processes share significant technical similarities.
